Antonio Conte has refused to reveal who has the final say on signings at Chelsea.

The Blues boss, whose side are away against Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, appeared to be frustrated by the club’s transfer dealings during the summer but has since been coy when discussing the policy.

Asked at a press conference on Friday who has the final say on transfer dealings at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “This is our situation. The club has to spend money and it is right to spend in the way it wants.

“It is not right to talk about a person but right to talk in general about the club.

“I was very clear in the past that the club sometimes ask me my opinion about our transfer market and situation and the way we can improve.

“But at the same time the final decision is for the club.”

Chelsea have already signed midfielder Ross Barkley from Everton and are rumoured to be keen on signing a striker, with Peter Crouch, Andy Carroll, Fernando Llorente and Edin Džeko all linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Conte has refused to comment on reports linking Chelsea with Crouch and former Manchester City star Džeko.

“I think it is not right to talk about players of another team,” he said.
