Chelsea v Newcastle: Morata injury latest, Magpies duo set to return

Alvaro Morata is an injury doubt for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Newcastle on Saturday.

The Spanish striker missed Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Tottenham with a minor hamstring problem.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is out with a back problem.

Provisional squad: Kepa, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Hazard, Pedro, Kovacic, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud, Zappacosta, Willian, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Morata, Luiz, Emerson Palmieri, Ampadu.

Newcastle defenders Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark will both return to contention,

Fernandez (hip) and Clark (ankle) will give boss Rafa Benitez more options at the back, but Jonjo Shelvey (thigh) will play no part and fellow defender Kenedy is not eligible to face his parent club.

Benitez made eight changes for the FA Cup tie against Blackburn last week and will revert back to his strongest line-up, although Paul Dummett (hamstring) and Karl Darlow (elbow) are still out.

Provisional squad: Dubravka, Ritchie, Yedlin, Clark, Fernandez, Lascelles, Schar, Diame, Longstaff, Hayden, Perez, Atsu, Rondon, Joselu, Javi Manquillo, Lejeune, Murphy, Woodman.
