Cesc Fabregas says he would like to commit his future to Chelsea by signing a new contract.

The former Arsenal midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United.

But Fabregas, who has 18 months remaining on his current contract, says he would like to stay in west London.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Fabregas, who turned 30 earlier this year, said: “Would I like to renew? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well.

“I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for them. I have given my all for the club for the last three-and-a-half years.

“This is a fantastic club for me and I have had a fantastic time here. Hopefully another contract will happen. Time will tell.”

Fabregas is also unfazed by Chelsea’s general rule of not offering contract extensions of more than one year to players over the age of 30.

He said: “I know that people panic after players reach 30 and stuff like that, but I don’t believe in this.

“I feel well, I feel young in my mind. I train every day as hard as possible.”
