Lukaku responds after reports he could snub Chelsea return

Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku reacts after his penalty is saved in the shoot-out

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has posted on Twitter criticising the media – seemingly in response to a newspaper report suggesting he could snub a return to Chelsea.

Lukaku has been widely tipped to leave Goodison Park this summer and has been linked with a return to Chelsea, who sold him to the Merseyside club in 2014.

He has also been linked with Manchester United amid continued speculation over his future.

But The Sun claim Lukaku has doubts about whether he would fit into Antonio Conte’s style of play were he to return to Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Conte is keen for his strikers to defend and to press the opposition, which Lukaku allegedly feels does not suit him.

The Sun say Lukaku is torn between a move to Chelsea or  United and is keen to play under United’s former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Belgium international, who has rejected a new contract at Everton, subsequently tweeted what appeared to be a response to the report.
