It has certainly been an eventful first season in English football for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho – and it could end with a trophy.
The Italy international was regarded as Maurizio Sarri’s flagship signing after Sarri was installed as Blues boss last summer.
Having played under him at Napoli, he was seen as a favourite of Sarri, who has attracted plenty of criticism from fans during his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Much of the discontent about ‘Sarriball’ was aimed towards Jorginho, given that he is such a pivotal player in the manager’s system.
Despite the criticism after some dismal results this term, Sarri has guided Chelsea back to the Champions League and could win the Europa League.
That would represent a successful first season in England for Jorginho, whose agent Joao Santos says would like to return to Italy – and potentially Napoli – at some stage in the future.
“If Jorginho gets the chance to return to Italy, he’ll be happy,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss, as reported by Football Italia.
“He has this country in his heart. Napoli miss him, like it happens to anyone who plays for them.
“He could come back in a few years’ time. Why not at Napoli?”
