Daniele Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia has said that Juventus turned down an offer from Chelsea for the defender during the summer.
The Blues were tipped top sign Italy international Rugani but were unable to agree a deal with Juve.
He has been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge in January, with reports claiming that Chelsea plan to make another attempt to sign him when the transfer window reopens.
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has repeatedly made it clear he believes his team’s defensive shortcomings will prevent them seriously challenging Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
Sarri is said to be a big admirer of Rugani, although Torchia says the player did not look to leave when a potential move to Chelsea was presented.
“There was an important offer from Chelsea,” Torchia told RMC Sport, as reported by forzaitalianfootball.com.
“Juventus looked at the bid, but the player never asked to leave.
“He has never asked to leave Juventus and his goal is to earn a place in the starting line-up.
“Juve believe in the player and we will tackle the question of a new contract. It expires in 2021 so there is no rush, but we cannot wait too long either.”
