Bees linked with Fry as Dalsgaard leaves

Brentford have been linked with a move for Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry

Leeds United are among other clubs said to be interested in the centre-back, who impressed in the Championship last season.

Burnley, Wolves and Southampton are also said to have been watching Fry in recent months.

But Football League World say Brentford are strongly interested in Fry following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

They are expected to bolster their defensive options and it remains to be seen whether they go for Fry in the coming weeks.

The Bees will certainly be looking for a right-back after Henrik Dalsgaard left the club to return to his native Denmark.

The 31-year-old, who was out of contract, is a popular figure among fans and played a key role in the promotion campaign.

But he will not play Premier League football for Brentford and has instead signed for FC Midtjylland on a free transfer.

He spent four years with the Bees, who signed him from Belgian side Waregem in 2017.

He made 162 appearances during his time in west London and his final match was the play-off victory over Swansea at Wembley, where the 2-0 win took Thomas Frank’s side up to the top flight.
