Bees sign Hardy and want Kaikai

Brentford have signed teenage striker Joe Hardy from Manchester City and are planning to make a move for Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai this summer.

Hardy, 18, has joined on a three-year contract and will initially play for Brentford’s B squad.

He has scored 12 goals this season for City’s Under-18 team, which is managed by former Brentford head coach Lee Carsley.

“Joe is a player the scouting department and I have been monitoring for quite some time,” Brentford’s head of football operations Robert Rowan told the club’s website.

“We are really pleased to welcome him to the football club today. He’s an instinctive centre-forward who is constantly looking to create opportunities for himself or his team-mates by getting in good attacking positions.

“He’s scored 12 goals and provided six assists from 11 starts for Manchester City’s Under-18s, which is an impressive record for any player, and inevitably his performances created interest from other Premier League clubs.”

Meanwhile, the Bees are interested in taking Kaikai back to Griffin Park.

The 21-year-old impressed while on loan in west London during the first part of the season before being recalled by Palace in January.

He has not made a Premier League appearance for the Eagles since returning to Selhurst Park, with his only two outings for them both coming in the FA Cup.
