Arsene Wenger has insisted he remains convinced that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez want to stay at Arsenal.
Amid continued speculation over the futures of both players, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, they were outstanding in Saturday’s derby victory against Tottenham.
Speaking to reporters, Gunners boss Wenger reiterated that he believes they want to stay at the Emirates Stadium.
“I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided. When? I don’t really know,” said Wenger.
“I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well.”
Wenger also hit back at suggestions that Ozil and Sanchez have shown a lack of commitment in their recent performances,
“They’ve shown their commitment again [against Spurs]. I’ve never questioned their commitment,” he said.
“They can have bad games but the problem is that, when a player gets near the end of his contract and has a bad game, everybody says it’s because he’s going. Their interest is to play.”
