Ozil to refuse loan move – reports

Mesut Ozil will refuse to leave Arsenal on loan this summer, according to reports. Ozil is out of favour under Gunners boss Unai Emery, who even left him out for this week’s Europa League game against BATE Borisov.

That has been seen as a further indication that Ozil is finished at the Emirates Stadium.

The club are said to be keen to offload him at the end of the season, with his reported £350,000-a-week wages a drain on Arsenal’s budget.

Arsenal would reportedly like to sell him, but a loan deal would be the fall-back option if a buyer cannot be found. But both the Daily Mail and The Sun report that Ozil will refuse a loan move.

The Mail also say that Arsenal players believe Unai’s freezing out of Ozil stems from the Spaniard’s poor relationship with Neymar during his time at Paris St-Germain.

Emery and Neymar are said to have been involved in a power struggle at the French club and the Mail say members of Arsenal’s squad believe that experience means Emery is determined not to give in to player power.

Meanwhile, The Sun say Arsenal want to install a director of football immediately rather than wait and that Roma’s Monchi and Ajax’s former Arsenal star Marc Overmars are in the frame.
