Arsenal players reportedly divided over Ozil return

Arsenal players are said to be divided over whether Mesut Ozil should be recalled to the squad.

Ozil has been frozen out by boss Mikel Arteta, whose side were struggling badly prior to a fantastic 3-1 win at home to Chelsea on Boxing Day.

Some fans have felt that Ozil could have made a positive difference and should be brought back into the fold.

Premier League squads being resubmitted after the January transfer window means Ozil could yet play a role for the Gunners this season.

But the Sunday Telegraph reports that there are different opinions among the Gunners squad over whether Ozil should be reintegrated.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly among clubs keen on Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun.

The Sunday Express have picked up on reports linking Balogun with a possible move to Anfield.

It comes after The Athletic claimed that Liverpool are one of the clubs monitoring the situation amid doubts over the striker’s future.

His Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season and he has indicated that he would like to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

However, no agreement has been reached over a new deal, apparently alerting clubs to his possible availability.

Sheffield United are known to be interested, with Blades boss Chris Wilder having previously tried to sign him.
