England v Denmark player ratings – how the London contingent fared at Wembley

Ten-man England were beaten 1-0 by Denmark in their Nations League game at Wembley. Here’s how we rated each of the London contingent.

Reece James: 8

The Chelsea full-back looks very much at home on the international stage. He was solid defensively and got forward when possible. His distribution from the right was excellent, especially in the first half. He also went close with a late free-kick. An encouraging display – but he was red-carded after the final whistle, seemingly for berating the referee.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: 6

Maitland-Niles was having a decent game at left-back before being sacrificed in a substitution after the sending-off of Harry Maguire just after the half-hour mark. That was tough on the Arsenal youngster.

Declan Rice: 6

The West Ham man worked hard in midfield before being taken off with 15 minutes remaining.

Mason Mount: 6

Again deployed in a right-sided role, the Chelsea youngster was not at his most effective but stuck to the task and would have scored with a second-half header but for a superb save by Kasper Schmeichel.

Harry Kane: 6

Isolated up front even before England were reduced to 10 men. Worked hard and created a last-minute chance for Conor Coady, but it was not a great night for the Tottenham striker.

Andreas Christensen: 7

Yellow-carded for a first-half challenge on Kane, Denmark’s Chelsea centre-back was otherwise solid and composed at the heart of his team’s defence but was withdrawn at half-time.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg: 7

The Tottenham midfielder showed his quality for Denmark, who were well organised and worked hard off the ball.
