Arsenal look most likely to land former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen from Inter in January, reports claim.
According to Italian outlet il Corriere dello Sport Inter are resigned to not finding a buyer for the Dane next month, but will instead look to a loan exchange with the Gunners.
The report claims Inter have proposed to Arsenal they would consider Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos in a loan trade as a ‘quid pro quo’.
Arsenal are said to be very seriously considering the offer, while Inter now believe the Premier League is the ‘only possible landing place’ for Eriksen.
Ceballos is currently on loan at the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid, but Arsenal could try to cancel the loan, with Inter willing to pick him up.
Fellow loan alternative Xhaka has previously been mooted as a potential makeweight for Eriksen’s return to North London after inconsistent form with the Gunners.
Gazzetta dello Sport, meanwhile, said Eriksen has an agreement with the Serie A club to leave the San Siro next month, while Inter CEO Beppe Marotta recently admitted the “bargain” purchase from Spurs has not proved “functional” for the club.
The 28-year-old has fallen firmly out of favour with Inter boss Antonio Conte despite making the move to Italy only last January.
