Paper round-up: Arsenal target says he intends to stay put

Thomas Partey, who is reportedly wanted by Arsenal, has said he expects to stay at Atletico Madrid this summer.

Gunners boss Unai Emery is said to be keen to sign the 25-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, who reportedly has a £43m release clause in his contract, which expires in 2023.

But Partey has indicated that he expects to stay put despite being linked with a number of clubs.

“I’ve grown up in Atleti and I am sure I will stay here,” he told Cadena COPE, as reported by the Daily Star.

“I don’t know of another place that will understand how I play like they do here.”

Meanwhile, The Times reports that Andy Carroll could be in line for a move to the MLS, having seemingly played his last game for West Ham.

Carroll has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury and is likely to be released this summer, when his contract expires.

The Sun say West Ham will offer Edin Dzeko a £165,000-a-week deal in an attempt to sign him from Roma.

The Daily Mail say Real Madrid will not pay the £100m Chelsea want for Eden Hazard and will instead ask him to try to force a move from Stamford Bridge.

And the Daily Telegraph reports that QPR have spoken to Michael Appleton about the vacant manager’s position at Loftus Road.
