Hector Bellerin looks likely to return to the Arsenal side for Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.
The right-back was left out for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria, where Carl Jenkinson returned to the starting line-up.
Arsene Wenger decided not to include Bellerin in the squad which travelled and indicated he had picked up an injury in training.
However, speaking at a press conference on Thursday morning, the Gunners boss suggested that the player would be available to play at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Wenger said: “I left him behind to be cautious. I could have forced the issue a bit and played him in Bulgaria. I think he should be alright.”
Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal also missed the game in Bulgaria because of their respective injuries.
All three players will be assessed in the next 24 hours to see if they are fit enough to be included in the squad for the Spurs game.
Wenger indicated that, of the three, Walcott is the closest to being fit.
Kieran Gibbs is also being monitored after picking up a shoulder injury.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are hoping to have Harry Kane back from injury.
