Paper round-up: Arsenal tipped to move for Argentina star

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is said to be keen to snap up the experienced midfielder….

Arsenal continue to be linked with Argentina midfielder Ever Banega.

The Daily Mail again claim Unai Emery is keen to sign Banega from the Gunners boss’ former club Sevilla.

Banega, who featured in the World Cup during the summer, has been touted as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium.

Contract talks between Ramsey and the club have broken down and he looks set to leave.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would be Manchester United’s first choice to take over at Old Trafford if Jose Mourinho is sacked, according to The Independent.

It comes amid speculation over the future of Mourinho following a poor run of results and apparent divisions behind the scenes.

The Independent say United would want Pochettino but that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would not consider letting him leave mid-season.

The Guardian reports that Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is determined not to allow his off-field problems to affect his performances.

The Frenchman returned to action against Barcelona and made a costly mistake as his team were beaten 4-2 at Wembley.

“A few things have happened in my private life,” Lloris said.

“But the most important thing is to stay focused on your job. It’s not easy to be back in this type of game against Barcelona without a game before but I tried my best.

“The most important thing for me is to be back and then build confidence and be back at my level – repeat and repeat games to be at 100%.”
