The Daily Mirror say Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi could be fined by the Football Association for his goal celebration against Cardiff City on Sunday.
The Germany international put Arsenal ahead and then clasped his two hands together and flapped his fingers, apparently in reference to the double-headed eagle present on Albania’s national flag.
Xherdan Shaqiri and Mustafi’s Arsenal team-mate Granit Xhaka, who are both ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, made the gesture while playing for Switzerland during the World Cup this summer and were fined.
Mustafi, who was born in Germany to an Albanian family from Macedonia, made the gesture in the direction of Xhaka when he scored against Cardiff and the Mirror say the FA could take action against him.
Meanwhile. Manuel Pellegrini is not in immediate danger of losing his job despite a dire start as West Ham boss, the Mirror say.
The Hammers were beaten at home by Wolves on Saturday and have now lost their opening four Premier League matches under Pellegrini.
Fans were restless during the defeat at the weekend and Pellegrini is already coming in for criticism.
But the Mirror say the former Manchester City boss is safe from the sack for the time being at least.
