Paper round-up: Arsenal eyeing £3m deal for Colombia star

Arsenal want to sign James Rodriguez, the Daily Mail say.

The Colombian midfielder is out of favour at Bayern Munich, where he is on a two-year loan from Real Madrid.

The Mail suggest Bayern are looking to offload him and that he could be available for £3m.

Meanwhile, there continues to be speculation over the future of Christian Eriksen.

The Tottenham midfielder has been discussing a new contract with the club amid reports linking him with a potential move to Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper AS say it has been told by a source close to the player that an agreement looks “very, very difficult”, with Eriksen highly unlikely to sign a new deal.

Eriksen is said to be keen to leave the door open to a move to Real, who have reportedly already invited Tottenham to name their price for him.

AS say Spurs demanded £220m for the Dane and have made it clear there is no prospect of him being sold during this month’s transfer window.

Chelsea hope to be given the green light to progress with a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain by the end of the week, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Alvaro Morata’s proposed move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid is reportedly in danger of falling through.

The Mail say the deal hangs in the balance because Atletico do not want to buy Morata now and are reluctant to agree a fee for a permanent move after an initial loan.

The Daily Mirror say Morata’s wages mean Sevilla have dropped out of the running to sign him and that Barcelona are in pole position.

The Guardian reports that Valencia want Javier Hernandez but that West Ham are unwilling to let him go unless they bring in a replacement.

And The Sun say Bournemouth will offer £15m for Brentford defender Chris Mepham.
