Everton boss Sean Dyche admitted Arsenal showed their quality in their 4-0 thrashing of his side.
The visitors managed to frustrate the Gunners until Bukayo Saka opened the scoring five minutes before half-time.
Gabriel Martinelli netted in the final seconds of the first half and second-half goals from Martin Odegaard and Martinelli sealed a resounding Arsenal win.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Dyche said: “In the second half you saw why they’re top of the league.
“It’s not always about us. There were lots of things we could have done better, but at the end of the day they’re a top side and they showed it.”
Mikel Arteta insisted he had “no doubt” Arsenal would bounce back from recently losing top spot in the Premier League.
Since Manchester City beat them to go top of the table, Arsenal have responded brilliantly, winning at Leicester and Aston Villa before thrashing Everton to go five points clear.
Arteta declared: “When you look at them every single day you just feel how much they want it and how much they want to do what we ask them to do.
“I had no doubt that we would turn things around. I am really pleased with the way the team is right now.”
