Campbell suggests ex-Arsenal ‘double act’ could replace Wenger

Sol Campbell has suggested that Arsenal should consider a “double act” of former Gunners stars Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp replacing Arsene Wenger.

Wenger is stepping down at the end of the season after 22 years years at the helm, and Vieira, currently manager of New York City, is among those to have been touted as a possible new boss at the Emirates Stadium.

He remains a hugely popular figure among Arsenal fans, as does Bergkamp, who has coached at Ajax since the end of his playing career.

And former Arsenal defender Campbell believes both men could be worth bringing back to the club this summer.

“I think to look inside and outside is key,” Campbell told Talksport.

“There should be an important push to put guys who’ve done really well back into the club.

“I think a double act between Patrick and Dennis Bergkamp. They’re the best of mates. Why not?

“There’s Tony Adams as well. There’s guys who can come in and work but also people who are in the club who could be promoted.

“You’ve got to look at all options. Obviously you’ve got outside, a number of contenders. You’ve got options.”
