Arsenal drew 3-3 in a thrilling game at the Emirates Stadium, where they came back from two down to lead but in the end had to settle for a point. Here’s how we rated each Gunners player.
Petr Cech: 5
Produced good saves to deny Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah but should have done a lot better for Liverpool’s equaliser, when he failed to get a firm enough hand to Roberto Firmino’s strike.
Hector Bellerin: 6
Found the going tough on the right but kept going and had a much better second half than first. Supplied the cross for Alexis Sanchez to pull a goal back and start the Arsenal comeback.
Laurent Koscielny: 5
Really poor. Unfortunate when he did a lot right in the build up to the opening goal, staying on his feet to block Salah only for the ball to ricochet towards Philippe Coutinho, who headed home. But the Frenchman’s overall display was nowhere near good enough. He was caught out numerous times and one particular lapse almost led to a goal for Salah.
Nacho Monreal: 5
Struggled badly against Liverpool’s slick attack before being replaced at half-time.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles: 5
Has obvious potential – and courage. He showed both, especially in the first half when he competed well and matched Salah for pace. Unfortunately for the youngster, two of Liverpool’s goals came after his inexperience showed. He was dragged out of position in the build up to the first goal and lost possession before the second. But he definitely looks like one for the future.
Granit Xhaka: 6
Overrun in midfield and somewhat fortunate when his long-range strike ended up in the net, although it was powerfully hit. But the midfielder did come on strong as the game progressed and played a key role in Arsenal’s fightback.
Jack Wilshere: 7
Had some difficult moments, particularly in the first half and when he was left trailing as Liverpool broke to score their second goal. But he was always hardworking and looked to create, and in the end he made a sizeable contribution.
Alex Iwobi: 5
Looked short of confidence and out of his depth as he repeatedly gave the ball away and ran into trouble.
Mesut Ozil: 7
Anonymous for much of the game but responded in style once his team became galvanised, and he scored a lovely goal.
Alexis Sanchez: 6
Another who contributed little before scoring during Arsenal’s three-goal salvo. Started the comeback by capitalising on Joe Gomez’ hesitation at the far post to tuck away Bellerin’s cross.
Alexandre Lacazette: 7
Not much went his way for large spells of the game but his movement was excellent, he worked tirelessly up front and produced a moment of real class to set up Ozil with a back-heel.
Shkodran Mustafi: 6
Fared better than Monreal after replacing him at half-time.
