Arsenal totally destroyed by Liverpool – player ratings

Arsenal endured an evening to forget at Anfield, where Premier League leaders Liverpool thrashed them 5-1. Here’s how we rated each Gunners player.

Bernd Leno: Was out of position for Liverpool’s opener and seemed a nervy figure when in possession. 5

Stephan Lichtsteiner: Gave Salah space, allowing Liverpool’s talisman to tee up Mane, which essentially ended Arsenal’s hopes of leaving Anfield with anything. 5

Sokratis Papastathopoulos: Looked untroubled when Liverpool burst forward and clumsily bundled over Salah in the area, allowing the Egyptian to slot home his side’s fourth. 5

Shkodran Mustafi: Similar to all of Arsenal’s defenders, the German found himself overwhelmed by the movement, pace and inventiveness of Liverpool’s front three and was hauled off at half-time. 5

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: Took his goal well and occasionally troubled Robertson down the right flank. 6

Lucas Torreira: Seemed off the pace, surrendering possession too easily at times. 5

Granit Xhaka: Overwhelmed in the centre of the park, the Swiss was perhaps fortunate not to see red after kicking the ball away in frustration moments after his clumsy challenge on Robertson. 5

Sead Kolasinac: Was penalised for a shove on Lovren that allowed Firmino to complete the scoring from the spot. 5

Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal’s supposedly wantaway midfielder tried hard but was largely anonymous. 6

Alex Iwobi: Teed up Maitland-Niles and was generally willing. 6

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Had only seven touches in the first half. A peripheral figure. 4

Laurent Koscielny (for Mustafi, 46): Brought on to stem the Liverpool tide. 6

Alexandre Lacazette (for Aubameyang, 71): Could not make an impression: 5

Matteo Guendouzi (for Kolasinac, 81): Made little impact. 5
