Arsenal reportedly given increased hope of signing Leicester star

Arsenal have been given “increased hope” of signing Youri Tielemans from Leicester this summer, the Daily Express claim.

The story is based on comments by Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, who the newspaper declare has “confirmed his club are yet to enter negotiations for a new contract for the player”.

Tieleman’s contract expires at the end of the season and there has been speculation over his future for some time.

Rodgers said: “We have a number of players out of contract come the end of the season.

“My focus has been on working with him and getting out of the situation we are in. So everything else is not really spoken about from my perspective.”

Rodgers also praised the midfielder for the attitude he has shown amid reports that he could soon be on his way out of the East Midlands club.

“We had a number of long chats in the summer,” Rodgers explained.

“There is clearly no doubt even a young guy who is focused like Youri and very professional, it can have an impact.

“But he has been fully focused. He doesn’t let that affect him. He is a top-class professional, he sees the game how I see it.”
