Parker confirmed as West Ham boss

West Ham have named Scott Parker as their new head coach, just a day after sacking Nuno Espírito Santo.

The former Hammers captain has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal and will take charge of tonight’s Championship game at Cardiff.

Parker, 46, has been out of work since leaving Burnley in April after their relegation from the Premier League.

But he arrives with the kind of CV West Ham wanted. He has won promotion from the Championship three times, with Fulham in 2020, Bournemouth in 2022 and Burnley in 2025, when they reached 100 points and conceded just 16 league goals.

West Ham are eighth in the table, and home defeats by Southampton and West Brom cost Nuno his job.

“It is a very proud moment for me to step into this role and return to a club that means so much to me and my family,” said Parker.

“I feel privileged and honoured to be the guy that wants to lead us back to the Premier League.”

Parker made 129 appearances for West Ham between 2007 and 2011 and was Hammer of the Year three years running.

He was also named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association in 2010/11, the season West Ham were relegated.

“A lot of very fond memories of my time here – four years of probably the best football I played in my career,” he said.

First-team coaches Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville and Billy Lepine will assist him, while former team-mate Mark Noble will work closely with him as sporting director.

The club say more backroom staff will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
