Simon Jordan has launched a stinging attack on the Tottenham squad, labelling the players a “disparate bunch of layabouts” following the departure of head coach Igor Tudor.
“Who are you going to bring in to get this disparate bunch of layabouts to focus in the right direction and concentrate on the well-being of the football club rather than just themselves? If relegation happens, the players will put their transfer requests in and off they’ll go, immune to the consequences.”
Reports suggest that Roberto De Zerbi is the leading candidate to succeed Tudor, although the former Brighton boss is said to be reluctant to take the job until Premier League status is mathematically secured. Jordan, however, believes the Italian should be challenged to lead the rescue mission immediately.
“This idea that we should be suggesting to De Zerbi that maybe he comes when they stay in the division—he should come now to manage the side to get them out of the cart,” Jordan added.
Spurs face a crucial trip to Sunderland on 12th April, with the board under immense pressure to have a new appointment in place before the visit to the Stadium of Light.
