Keith Andrews spoke of his pride after his Brentford side pulled off a superb 3-2 win at home to champions Liverpool.
The Bees held off a late Reds fightback to secure a memorable – and deserved – victory.
Boss Andrews declared: “I’m very proud of everybody. There was something in the air; I felt good coming into the game. But you’re playing the Premier League champions, so it was always going to be a difficult evening. The way we approached the game was fearless.
“Once we got a grip of the game after 10 to 15 minutes, we were excellent throughout. The result was one that I think we deserved.
“We smothered them and didn’t allow them to get out,” he declared, summing up the high-octane pressure that plagued the Reds all evening.
The win moved Brentford into the top half of the Premier League table.
“I’m delighted with how things are going,” Andrews said.
“It was a slow burner at the start of the season, understandably, but I could see the evolution of the group on a daily basis.”
