Tottenham are reportedly lining up Nantes striker Randal Kolo Muani as a replacement for Harry Kane.
The 22-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and The Sun have picked up on reports in France suggesting that he could be on his way to north London.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Muani, who has shown no sign of signing a new deal.
He has been linked with Spurs amid ongoing doubts over the future of Kane, whose performances this season have attracted criticism.
The England captain made it clear he wanted to leave the club during the summer – and his displays since Tottenham dug in and refused to sell him have been a concern.
Kane and manager Nuno Espiritio Santo were jeered by some Spurs fans during the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United.
Nuno is now under serious pressure, with reports suggesting he could be sacked.
Spurs have lost five of their past seven Premier League matches and are eighth in the table – 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.
They failed to register a shot on target during Saturday’s defeat and their lack of an attacking threat has been a major problem which will clearly need to be addressed.
