Kounde furious Chelsea move collapsed, Haaland stumbling block revealed

Jules Kounde is reportedly furious that Sevilla blocked a move to Chelsea.

The France defender was tipped to join the Blues, whose offloading of Kurt Zouma to West Ham appeared to have paved the way for Kounde to move to Stamford Bridge.

But Sevilla stood firm over the asking price and Chelsea were unable to agree a deal in the final hours of the transfer window.

The Daily Express reports that Kounde is deeply unhappy about that and was keen for the transfer to go through. The story comes via the Spanish Football Podcast.

Chelsea were also strongly linked with Erling Haaland, who ended up staying put too.

Borussia Dortmund were determined not to sell the Norway striker and Chelsea eventually focused on a deal to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the Bridge from Inter Milan.

The Daily Mirror reports that Chelsea would have had to pay Haaland a staggering £825,000 a week in wages in order to secure his signing. That would work out at just under £43m.

The Mirror also pick up on German publication Bild reporting that Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola would have been paid £34m himself in order for any deal to go through.

With those kind of figures involved, it’s not surprising that Chelsea looked elsewhere.
