Arsenal ‘ready to meet Abraham’s wage demands’

Arsenal are ready to meet Tammy Abraham’s wage demands in order to sign the Chelsea striker, according to the Sunday Express.

The newspaper say Abraham is on around £80,000 a week at Chelsea but wants £125,000 in order to move to the Emirates Stadium – and the Gunners have indicated that they are willing to offer him that amount.

The England international is expected to leave Stamford Bridge after being overlooked by Blues boss Thomas Tuchel last season.

Abraham has scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea and is a favourite among Blues fans keen to see him become established as a first-team regular at the Bridge.

However, he was given only 17 minutes of action by Tuchel in the final three months of last season and is clearly not in the German’s first-team plans.

West Ham are also interested in Abraham but the price tag – reportedly £40m – appears to have ruled them out of the running to sign him.

Reports suggest Arsenal and Chelsea are discussing a season-long loan with an obligation to buy, which appears to have paved the way for a deal to be done.

But the Sunday Express adds that a deal could depend on whether Arsenal are able to offload Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

Both players are in the final year of their contracts and reports in Gunners boss Mikel Arteta’s native Spain suggest the club are particularly keen to sell Lacazette in order to capture Abraham.
