Warburton keen to keep Dieng at QPR

Seny Dieng’s performances have caught the eye of Premier League clubs – but Mark Warburton is hoping to keep the goalkeeper at QPR this summer.

Arsenal and Leeds have been linked with the Swiss stopper, who has been a revelation since replacing Joe Lumley as Rangers’ first-choice keeper.

The likes of Ilias Chair and Rob Dickie have also caught the eye for the R’s this season, but manager Warburton hopes to keep his squad together.

Warburton is keen for his club to follow in the footsteps of Barnsley, who are challenging for the Championship play-offs after retaining star men like Alex Mowatt, Conor Chaplain and Cauley Woodrow.

Warburton told West London Sport: “As Barnsley have shown this season, if you keep your team together and add one or two players you can be in a good position.

“Every QPR supporter wants us to be pushing up. We all want to be pushing for the play-offs and the Premier League and if we stay together, recruit wisely, we have a chance to get out of the Championship.

“But if you look at this division, it is getting harder and harder. Watford and Norwich are at the top and they have Premiership money and that is a big advantage.”
