Christian Eriksen could be heading back to North London next year, but not for a reunion with his former Tottenham Hotspur team-mates.
The midfielder could instead be on his way to Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal in a swap deal involving Granit Xhaka, according to the Corriere dello Sport
The Italian sports newspaper claims Eriksen could be sold in January unless his form picks up dramatically at Inter Milan.
The 28-year-old is said to be growing frustrated at his lack of game time under Antonio Conte, having moved to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium just last season, with both player and coach expressing their frustrations in the media.
The Danish international star has started just 12 Serie A games for the club and is yet to register a goal or assist in the 2020-21 campaign.
Inter are reportedly keen on a good return on their £17m signing, while Conte wants to bring a defensive midfielder to Milan.
He failed to land his first-choice signing N’Golo Kante from Chelsea in the summer, and Xhaka is seen as a good alternative with the Swiss facing increased competition at the Emirates after Thomas Partey’s arrival.
