Tottenham boss Mourinho explains why he left out Son and Moura against Bournemouth

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has said that his current wealth of attacking options enabled him to make some changes against Bournemouth.

Mourinho brought Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela into the starting line-up against the Cherries, with Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura on the bench.

Spurs are without Dele Alli, who was unable to recover from a hamstring problem in time for the game.

But Mourinho is still happy with his options and told Sky Sports he was keen for Bergwijn and Lamela to get a chance to show what they can do.

“Before the championship stopped we had so many problems in attack, with no options to play,” Mourinho said.

“But in this moment, even with Dele Alli injured, we have five (attacking) players and all of them have great quality.

“It’s one of these positions where, with so many matches, we have Lucas, Son, Bergwijn and Lamela – players from the same positions.

“They’re great players, I trust them all. I think it’s also important for Bergwijn and Lamela to have a start.”

Mourinho made three changes in total, with Jan Vertonghen stepping in once it was decided that Alli would not be fit enough to return to the side.
