Jeremie Boga appears to have hinted that he could rejoin Chelsea this summer.
The French winger is a product of Chelsea’s academy and reports have suggested they are considering buying him back from Italian club Sassuolo, where he has impressed.
Tottenham have also been linked with Boga, who is believed to be keen to return to London.
But he suggested to The Athletic that it has always been his intention to be a Chelsea player again if possible.
The likes of Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah were at Stamford Bridge during Boga’s time at the club and he needed to move on in order to play first-team football.
He explained to The Athletic: “When I was there, it was Willian, Hazard, Pedro. When Jose Mourinho was there, it was Salah. There were a lot of good wingers.
“For me, it has always been ‘If I can’t play, then I will try to go on loan or try to go somewhere to improve, then maybe come back one day’.”
Boga believes he has improved as a player after being given the opportunity to play regularly.
He said: “I think I’ve improved. I used to force it. If there were three players, I’d still try and do something.
“Now, if there are three players, I’ll look for a one-two or a pass. But every time there’s a one-against-one for me, an opportunity to go past a player, then I take it.”
