Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to make his return to action this evening.
The England midfielder has had to be patient in his recovery from the ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered last season.
The injury came just as Loftus-Cheek was finally establishing himself as a first-team regular for Chelsea.
It has been a frustrating time for him, but he recently returned to training and is now looking to play again.
Chelsea face Manchester United in a massive game at Stamford Bridge tonight, but there could be important Blues news to emerge from a lower-profile game, with Loftus-Cheek in contention to play for the Under-23s against Arsenal.
Manager Frank Lampard suggested at a press conference on Friday that Loftus-Cheek is finally closing in on a return.
And the player is tonight expected to make his long-awaited comeback, although he is not expected to play the full 90 minutes.
Loftus-Cheek faces plenty of competition for a place, with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mason Mount, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic all options for Lampard and youngster Billy Gilmour now also part of the first team squad.
But Loftus-Cheek’s immediate priority is to return to action and tonight looks like being an important step on his long road back.
