Chelsea have failed with a last-ditch attempt to keep Maurizio Sarri at the club, according to The Sun.
Sarri set to set to take over at Juventus after just one season as Blues head coach.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, currently Derby manager, is being tipped to replace the Italian, who steered Chelsea back to the Champions League.
Sarri also delivered silverware, with Chelsea winning the Europa League by thrashing Arsenal in the final in Baku in what looks like being his final match in charge.
It was a sparkling end to what was often a troubled season for Sarri, who was jeered by fans during a dismal spell of results and performances which included a 6-0 hammering at Manchester City and a number of woeful home displays.
And, according to The Sun, it was that criticism that he has led him to want to return to his native Italy.
The newspaper declare that Sarri felt “violated” by abuse from fans and that Chelsea’s attempts to keep him have been in vain.
The Sun also say Lampard will be joined by another former Chelsea man, Jody Morris, who is his assistant at Derby, and wants to bring in Blues legend Didier Drogba – but not John Terry.
