Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher believe Eden Hazard is on his way to Real Madrid and it will be a huge loss for the Premier League as well as Chelsea.
Hazard was brilliant in a 2-0 win over West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Monday, lifting his team up to third in the table.
He continues to be linked with a move to Real – and Neville saw his display against the Hammers as a sign of what English football will possibly be missing after this season.
“It (Hazard’s performance) makes feel sad in some ways,” said the former Manchester United defender.
“There’s so much talk of Real Madrid, and once Real Madrid start getting linked with a player so strongly, and you’re hearing that Eden Hazard wants to go, you really do think this could be his last five Premier League games.
“That’s a real problem for the Premier League. We keep losing our best players to Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
Carragher, meanwhile, believes it is inevitable that Hazard will make the move to Madrid.
“I don’t think you can ever stop that. I think players see that as the pinnacle,” said the former Liverpool man.
“When you say it’s sad, I agree with you in term of not watching them week in and week out, but I always feel Hazard has to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona – he’s that good.
“I think Hazard’s too good for Chelsea right now. He’s that good a player.”
