Real Madrid tipped to end pursuit of Man Utd star and make Chelsea an offer instead

Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalga as an alternative to David De Gea.

Manchester United’s De Gea has long been linked with Real, with Spanish media reports suggesting he could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.

But Teamtalk.com say Real regard De Gea as too expensive and are now ready to make Chelsea an offer for Kepa.

Real are apparently set to offer £50m, which Chelsea are said to be prepared to consider accepting.

The report also states that Stoke’s Jack Butland and Burnley’s Nick Pope are seen as possible replacements for Kepa, who moved to Stamford Bridge for £72m last summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has suggested that Olivier Giroud could end up staying at the club this summer.

The France striker has been widely tipped to move on when his contract at the Bridge expires at the end of the season.

However, speaking at a press conference, Sarri said he is keen for Chelsea to take up an option to extend the contract by a further 12 months – and believes they will.

“Yes, of course I want him to stay. I know the club have an option with him for another season, so I think he will remain,” Sarri said.
