Fulham want to sign Gary Cahill from Chelsea when the transfer window reopens next month.
West London Sport reports that the relegation-threatened Whites are looking to capture Cahill from their neighbours in January.
The story has subsequently been picked up by Sky Sports, who say Watford and Southampton are also believed to be interested in Cahill.
The 32-year-old centre-back, whose contract is due to expire this summer, will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.
And the Whites, whose defensive shortcomings have been woefully exposed this season, believe his experience could make all the difference in their battle for Premier League survival.
Cahill has been overlooked by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, making just seven appearances in all competitions this term, and is ready to move on.
Fulham, bottom of the table and having recently installed former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri as manager, want to sign a centre-back, a striker and possibly a new right-back during the upcoming window.
They are certain to face competition for the signing of Cahill, who has been linked with a number of clubs.
The former England international has won every major honour since joining Chelsea in January 2012, racking up 289 appearances during his near seven-year spell at the Bridge.
