West Ham duo Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere are both in contention to return from injury against Manuel Pellegrini’s former side Manchester City on Saturday.

The injury-plagued England internationals have both had ankle surgery with striker Carroll closer to a recall having played in a friendly against Brentford last week.

Carroll, 29, has not featured under new Hammers boss Pellegrini having had ankle injury after being injured in pre-season.

He joined from Liverpool in June 2013 but has made just 69 starts in all competitions.

Midfielder Wilshere, 26, has only made four Premier League appearances this season following his summer move from London rivals Arsenal.

His last appearance saw him replaced in the second half of the 1-0 home defeat against Wolves on September 1.

West Ham have won three and lost six of their 12 league matches this season and are just four points above the relegation zone, while unbeaten City are top following ten wins from their 12 games.
