Paper round-up: West Ham defender eyeing move to Arsenal

Reece Oxford could join Arsenal from West Ham in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Oxford has been linked with a move to Borussia Monchengladbach, where he was on loan last season.

But the youngster is believed to be keen to join a Premier League club rather than return to Germany.

And the Mirror say he could refuse a move this month in the hope of joining Arsenal at the end of the season.

The Daily Express say Andy Carroll’s agent has discussed a deal that would see the West Ham striker return to his former club Newcastle in exchange for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has said that he does not believe Carroll will leave during this month’s transfer window.

The Express have also picked up on reports in Turkey claiming that West Ham want Besiktas centre-half Domagoj Vida.

Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi has no intention of staying at Chelsea and has already agreed terms with Bayern Munich, according to The Sun.

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, say Chelsea are unhappy with Bayern’s pursuit of the player and believe the German club have bent transfer rules by making direct approaches to Hudson-Odoi’s family, who also act as his advisers.

The Sun say Chelsea are close to a deal to bring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge in exchange for Alvaro Morata.

The agreement would see Morata join AC Milan, where Higuain is currently on loan from Juventus.

Juve are said to be ready to rubber-stamp a deal that would involve striker Higauin, who played under Blues boss Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, move to Chelsea with the option of a permanent transfer in the summer.
