Paper round-up: Arnautovic’s move to China appears to be off

Marko Arnautovic’s move to China is reportedly off.

The Mail on Sunday say the proposed transfer has collapsed after Guangzhou Evergrande pulled out of the £45million deal.

It comes after the forward made it clear that he wanted to leave West Ham, who had been tipped to target Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez as his replacement.

Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday have an interview with former West Ham coach Danny Searle, who says the club were previously unsure whether Declan Rice would make the grade.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who wants Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, is hopeful of a new signing arriving this week, the Daily Star Sunday reports.

Former Arsenal midfielder Edu is in the running to become the Gunners’ director of football, the Mail on Sunday reports.

The Sunday Mirror, on the other hand, say another ex-Arsenal player, Marc Overmars, is being lined up for the role of technical director.

Chelsea have made an enquiry about Barcelona’s former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho, according the Sunday Express.

Gonzalo Higuain is set to complete a loan move to Chelsea and will be paid £270,000 a week at Stamford Bridge, the Daily Star Sunday claim.

The Mail on Sunday say Callum Hudson-Odoi will reject Chelsea’s offer of a new contract and is determined to join Bayern Munich.

And the Mail on Sunday also reports that Bournemouth are set to complete the signing of Brentford defender Chris Mepham.
