Watford v Burnley: Hornets duo could return, Clarets star a doubt

Midfielder Will Hughes is set to miss Watford’s match against Burnley with concussion.

Hughes was substituted following a collision in the opening minutes of his side’s win at Crystal Palace
last weekend and is unlikely to be fit to face the Clarets.

Andre Gray and Christian Kabasele are back in training and could both return after their respective injury lay-offs, but Sebastian Prodl (knee) remains sidelined.

Provisional squad: Foster, Cathcart, Kiko, Holebas, Sema, Doucoure, Quina, Pereyra, Kabasele, Cleverley, Penaranda, Deeney, Success, Capoue, Gomes, Mariappa, Masina, Kabasele, Wilmot, Chalobah, Deulofeu, Gray.

Burnley winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson faces a late fitness test on his thigh.

Defensive duo Matt Lowton and Phil Bardsley are both carrying unspecified knocks but Clarets manager Sean Dyche is hopeful at least one will take to the field at Vicarage Road.

Midfielder Steven Defour and defender Stephen Ward are in contention after featuring for the under-23s earlier this week but goalkeeper Nick Pope will definitely miss out, as will the suspended Robbie Brady.

Provisional squad: Heaton, Hart, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Mee, Gibson, Ward, Bardsley, Long, Cork, Gudmundsson, Hendrick, Defour, Westwood, McNeil, Vokes, Barnes, Wood, Vydra.
