Southampton v Watford: Saints defender a doubt, Hornets star back

Watford captain Troy Deeney is set to make his comeback in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Southampton at St Mary’s after missing three games due to a hamstring issue.

Sebastian Prodl (hamstring) and Daryl Janmaat (knee) remain sidelined, and Etienne Capoue is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the 1-0 loss at Newcastle last weekend.

Tom Cleverley, out since January due a combination of hamstring and Achilles problems, is back in training but will not be involved in this match.

Provisional squad: Foster, Mariappa, Cathcart, Kiko, Holebas, Doucoure, Hughes, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Success, Deeney, Gomes, Masina, Kabasele, Sema, Chalobah, Gray, Okaka.

Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt could miss out.

Holland international Hoedt has a foot infection and will face a late fitness test before Saturday’s clash at St Mary’s.

Midfielder Mario Lemina is expected to be available despite tightness in a thigh muscle.

Provisional squad: McCarthy, Gunn, Forster, Soares, Stephens, Yoshida, Vestergaard, Hoedt, Bertrand, Bednarek, Targett, Hojbjerg, Davis, Romeu, Lemina, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Elyounoussi, Redmond, Gallagher, Long, Gabbiadini, Austin, Ings.
