Paper round-up: Hammers linked with Sturridge, Ozil deal reportedly close

West Ham have been linked with a January move for Liverpool’s England striker Daniel Sturridge.

The Mirror say Sturridge, 27, is frustrated after slipping down the pecking order at Anfield and could leave when the transfer window reopens.

The Mirror add that West Ham are interested in the former Chelsea man and that a number of clubs have been made aware of his potential availability.

Stoke City are also said to be interested in Sturridge, who left Chelsea to join Liverpool in January 2013.

Sturridge, who reportedly earns £120,000 a week, has said that he wants to stay at Anfield and fight for his place.

The Mirror also say Mesut Ozil is close to agreeing a new contract at Arsenal worth £200,000 a week.

Germany star Ozil is said to have indicated to the Gunners that he is keen to stay despite recent speculation linking him with other clubs.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will offer Frank Lampard a role back at Stamford Bridge if he decides to retire from playing following his announcement he is leaving New York City FC, according to the Guardian.

And The Sun claim Chelsea and Tottenham will battle to sign Napoli’s teenage midfielder Amadou Diawara.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is said to be an admirer of the player and keen to sign him in January.
