Paper round-up: Boro reportedly make £7m move for Fletcher

Middlesbrough are in talks to sign Ashley Fletcher from West Ham for £7m, The Sun say.

The forward is reported to have flown back to England from West Ham’s pre-season training camp in Germany to talk to Boro.

Top-flight clubs Huddersfield, Watford and Brighton are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old, who started only two Premier League games for the Hammers last season.

His first-team chances at the London Stadium appear to have further diminished following the signing of Javier Hernandez.

Meanwhile, The Independent say Jack Wilshere wants to stay close to London so would favour a move to West Ham if he leaves Arsenal this summer.

The England midfielder, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Emirate Stadium, spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, who have not pursued a deal to sign him permanently.

Several European clubs have been linked with Wilshere, 25, and Arsenal are reported to be hoping to sell him for £20m.

But The Independent say he is reluctant to go abroad and that his preference would be a move to the Hammers, who have not made an official approach for him.

Paris St-Germain are said to have dropped their interest in Alexis Sanchez because they accept the Arsenal forward wants to join Manchester City, The Sun reports.

The story is based on a French journalist claiming that PSG have ended their pursuit of Sanchez after having two bids for him rejected.

It comes after The Sun recently declared that PSG had offered Arsenal £44m for Sanchez. It was subsequently reported elsewhere that no offer had been submitted.

The Independent recently claimed that Sanchez is determined to force a move to City as he is desperate to play under their manager Pep Guardiola.

And The Sun have picked up on reports that agent Jorge Mendes has held talks with AC Milan over a potential deal to sign Diego Costa.

The Spain striker, who has been told he has no future at Chelsea, is said to be keen to rejoin his former club Atletico Madrid, but they are under a transfer ban until January.
