Paper round-up: Arsenal reportedly want midfielder and defender

Arsenal have made signing a midfielder and a centre-back their priorities for this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Telegraph say Arsenal are particularly keen to sign a midfielder because of doubts over the futures of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and the injured Santi Cazorla.

Schalke’s Max Meyer, who is also out of contract this summer, is again touted as a possible signing for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has taken up yoga in an attempt to prolong his playing career, The Sun reports.

Mousa Dembele has cast doubt on his Tottenham future by saying he will not consider signing a new contract before the World Cup, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The Telegraph say Dembele, whose current deal expires in 2019, has left open the prospect that this could be his final season at the club.

It comes after reports in his native Belgium quoted him as saying: “We have not really talked about an extension of my contract.

“For now, I’m only focussing on Tottenham. Maybe this is my last season. Or maybe I’ll sign a new deal. We’ll see.”

Tottenham and Chelsea both want Real Madrid playmaker Isco, The Sun claim.

The Sun have also picked up reports linking Spurs with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

And West Ham are confident of signing Russia captain Fyodor Smolov from Krasnodar, according to the Daily Mirror.
