Arsenal alerted by Smalling fall-out, Sunday Mirror say

An apparent fall-out between Chris Smalling and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has alerted Arsenal, the Sunday Mirror claim.

Mourinho recently suggested that Smalling was unwilling to play through the pain barrier in United’s win at Swansea.

That has inevitably prompted speculation that Smalling, who has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, could be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Smalling is said to be unhappy about Mourinho’s comments.

The Sunday Mirror declare that “the row has rekindled Arsenal’s long-standing interest” in the England defender, who was linked with a move to north London prior to joining United from Fulham in January 2010

The same newspaper also suggests that Alexis Sanchez will spark a £50m battle between Manchester City and Juventus if he does not agree a new contract at Arsenal.

There has been speculation over the Chile forward’s future as his current contract expires in 2018 and he has yet to sign a new deal.

Sanchez, 27, is reported to want a substantial pay rise in order to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez previously played under City boss Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, who signed him from Udinese in 2011 after he had been linked with a move to Juventus.
