Palace interested in Tottenham keeper Vorm

Crystal Palace are interested in Tottenham goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Eagles boss Frank de Boer is keen to sign a keeper following Steve Mandanda’s recent departure for Marseille.

And Vorm, who has been acting as Hugo Lloris’ understudy at Spurs, could be an option following Tottenham’s signing of Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton.

Who is Paulo Gazzaniga?

Gazzaniga completed a move to north London this week, signing a five-year deal.

The Argentine played 23 times for the Saints between 2012 and 2016, having signed from then-League Two side Gillingham.

However, he spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, making 32 appearances in the Spanish second tier.

Having left Argentina when he was 15, Gazzaniga was on the books of Valencia in his late teens but failed to play a first-team game and was released in 2011.

He later joined Gillingham after impressing in a trial game and spent a season at the Priestfield Stadium, initially as second choice behind ex-Fulham and Barnet keeper Ross Flitney.

Gazzaniga did eventually establish himself in the latter half of the season, being named the club’s young player of the year.

His form was noted by Southampton, and he joined in a deal which involved former Spurs trainee Tommy Forecast moving on loan in the opposite direction.

Gazzaniga kept only three clean sheets during his time on the south coast and twice played against Spurs – beaten 3-2 in December 2013 and 2-0 in December 2015, both games at St. Mary’s.
