Tottenham discussing Foyth’s future ahead of possible move

Juan Foyth could leave Tottenham on loan this month, according to the defender’s agent Claudio Curti.

The Argentine has been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular since joining Spurs from Club Estudiantes de La Plata in an £11.7m deal in August 2017.

Manager Jose Mourinho has played down the chances of Foyth being loaned out – but Curti says talks have been held with Tottenham about the possibility of Foyth going elsewhere for the rest of the season.

“We are evaluating the possibility of going out in the January market. We wait for this week to find clarity with Tottenham,” Curti told Inter Dipendenza, as reported by Sport Witness.

Reports suggest that Foyth could be allowed to go if Spurs bring in a defender during this month’s transfer window.

He has attracted criticism for his performances and his cause has not been helped by a number of mistakes.

One of them, in the recent game against Norwich, drew criticism from former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp, who argued that Mourinho urgently needs to improve his side’s defence.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “Foyth, every time I watch him he makes a mistake that costs Spurs a goal. He’s got to learn the basics. Keep it simple.”
