Injury blow for Tottenham’s Davies

Tottenham defender Ben Davies is likely to miss the upcoming London derbies with West Ham and Chelsea.

Left-back Davies suffered an ankle injury during Spurs’ 1-0 Champions League defeat against Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley last week.

The 23-year-old is definitely out of Wales’ World Cup qualifier against Serbia in Cardiff on Saturday and revealed it would be at least another couple of weeks before he would return.

That timescale would rule him out of at least three Spurs matches – the home game with West Ham on 19 November, the Champions League trip to Monaco on 22 November and the visit to Stamford Bridge on 26 November.

However, he could be available to face former club Swansea City at White Hart Lane on 3 December.

Davies had made nine appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, including playing in three of the club’s four Champions League games.

He has not been on the winning side in his last five matches for club and country, since the Champions League victory away at CSKA Moscow at the end of September.
